Board
The Board of the Aurora Foundation was elected at its initial meeting on 28 April 2007. The members are:
Ingibjörg Kristjánsdóttir and Ólafur Ólafsson
“We decided to establish the foundation in continuation of an educational project that we implemented in Sierra Leone, and a cooperative project involving the development of the Icelandic Settlement Centre in Borgarnes. This is a natural part of communal responsibility, and the Aurora Foundation is a necessary structure with which to allocate systematically substantial support for worthy projects in Iceland and abroad over the coming years. We have enlisted dynamic and concerned individuals to sit on the fund's Board, individuals who intend to make a difference in the implementation of development aid, as well as projects that enhance life in Iceland.”
“I am simply interested in the matters that the Foundation focuses on. I have first-hand experience of Malawi, and know that there is no shortage of projects to support in Africa. It so happens that my ideas and those of the Foundation's founders regarding aims and methods are compatible; hopefully others will hop on board with us!“
