Ingibjörg Kristjánsdóttir graduated with a degree in landscape architecture from New York City University in 1991, and worked in her field for the Division of Planning and Construction in Reykjavík from 1991-1995. She then began working as an independent landscape architect before joining Landmótun ehf. in 1998. She became a partner in the firm in 1999, and in 2005, she sold her share and left the company.

Ingibjörg sits on the boards of UNICEF in Iceland and the Icelandic Settlement Centre in Borgarnes.
