Projects 2008

The Board of the Aurora Foundation disbursed ISK 210 million to four projects when it described the fund’;s operations, and announced the first grants, on 23 January 2008.

Two projects received grants for work to be implemented in 2008:

  • Sigurgeir’;s Stuffed Bird Collection, Mývatnssveit district, ISK 20 million to help with further development.
  • Mangochi District Hospital in Malawi, ISK 20 million to build a children’;s wing and strengthen its infrastructure.

Two projects received grants for three years:

  • Building schools in Sierra Leone and providing the necessary equipment and supplies, ISK 40 million yearly during the years 2008-2010, for a total of ISK 120 million.
  • Kraumur Music Fund, which the Aurora Foundation established to support young musicians in performing and presenting their works. Aurora donated ISK 20 million to the new fund in 2008, and will donate ISK 15 million in 2009 and ISK 15 million in 2010, for a total of ISK 50 million.
